First Hymn - SBH #100 - "Alleluia, Jesus lives" vv. 1-3

Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Their sound went forth through all the earth and their words to the end of the world.
Ps. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

In Peace let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For the peace that is from above, and for the salvation of our souls, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the churches of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
For this holy house, and for them that in faith, piety and fear of God offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, have mercy.
Help, save, pity and defend us, O God, by thy grace.

Gloria in Excelsis
Glory be to God on high! And on earth peace, good-will toward men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty. O Lord, the only begotten son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sin of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The Collect
O Almighty God, who hast instructed thy holy Church with the heavenly doctrine of thy Evangelists: Give us grace, that being not like children carried away with every blast of vain doctrine, we may be established in the truth of thy Holy Gospel; through thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holly Ghose, one God, world without end.

Old Testament Reading (First Reading)
Isaiah 55: 1-5

The Epistle (Second Reading)
Ephesians 4: 7-16

The Gospel (Third Reading)
John 15: 1-11

The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
Begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
Begotten, not made,
Being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made:
Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven,
And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary,
And was made man;
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried;
And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
And ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of the Father.
And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead:
Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost,
The Lord and Giver of Life,
Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified,
Who spake by the Prophets.
And I believe one Holy Christian and Apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.
And I look for the Resurrection of the dead,
And the Life of the world to come.

Prayer of the Church
Heavenly Father, we thank You today for the gift to Christ’s Church of the Evangelist St. Mark, and we ask that You would send us Your Holy Spirit to help us to make good and frequent use of his account of our Redeemer’s life. Merciful Lord, we ask Your blessing for Siegmund Heise, Roswitha Siegmann, Barb Turner, Karin Stewart, Helmut Reiser, Carol Kenney, Abigail Harrison, Art Plaxton, Erich Hinds, Dotty Hoffman’s husband, Russell Burr and all our ELCM chaplains: and for all in our congregation who for health-reasons specially need Your loving care. Father, we ask that You would keep firm their faith in Christ Jesus, and that You would grant to them such strengthening and healing as You in Your love and infinite wisdom know to be best.

Today we ask Your compassion and mercy for the family of Jessica Davis who died suddenly this last week—daughter-in-law to Charlie and Helen, wife to their son Christian, and mother to their grandson Aidan. Heavenly Father, comfort all these Your children with the Gospel of Christ Jesus’ Easter victory over death, and in the days ahead soothe their grief with the sure knowledge that Jessica now sees You face-to-face whom we must know yet by faith.
Lord Jesus Christ, gracious Savior and ever-present Lord, today at Your most shepherding invitation we come to Your altar to receive from You this sacred mystery of Your divine power and Your redeeming love—Your true body as our food and Your true blood as our drink for the refreshment and nourishment of our souls as we make our way heavenward. By Your Holy Spirit, grant to us, we pray, that we may receive this Sacrament in true faith—for the forgiveness of our sins, to the strengthening of our trust in Your atoning death and Your resurrection, and to the increase of Your love in us, and in this way so unite us to You as branches of the True Vine, that we may rise from Your table to live according to Your will in all things. This we pray in Your holy name.

A Special Prayer in this Time of the Coronavirus

Heavenly Father, we come to You in earnest prayer in this time when the coronavirus is still spreading so rapidly in the world, in our own beloved nation, and now also in this Philadelphia area. With thankful hearts, we cling to Your promise that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, and that You will make all things work together for good for Your people of faith. Today we ask, Father, that out of Your boundless mercy You would bring to an end the threat which this disease poses to us and to all people. Protect all those who must risk their own health as they tend to the sick—first responders, nurses, doctors, hospital aids, and all those who are exposed to the virus in the course of their service to others. Grant healing and recovery, we pray, to all who now suffer from this illness. To all who have lost loved ones in this pandemic, we ask that You would provide the comfort of the Gospel of our risen Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Send us Your Holy Spirit, we pray, to keep us diligent in prayer for our families, for our congregation, for our nation, and for all people. And both now and in the days ahead, grant to us true wisdom, we pray, and fill our hearts with the love of Christ, so that in every way we may act diligently and responsibly for the good of our neighbors. Hear our earnest prayer, heavenly Father, for the sake of Christ Jesus, Your Son and our Lord. Amen.

Communion Hymn - #269 - "Shepherd of Souls, refresh and bless"

Communion Liturgy

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
